#148 | My LAST Income Report 💀

Hi!

It’s been three years since I started the Niche Site Lady account on Twitter.

This is the 148th edition of this newsletter, which I’ve sent every Tuesday at 3pm UK time each week without fail.

I’m tired.

Read on and I’ll tell you my plans for the future…

The why

When I started posting anonymously online as Niche Site Lady, there were a ton of interesting conversations happening daily.

I loved becoming a part of that chat and sharing successes with others.

Being skint AF for most of my life, it gave me a way to speak to others who were in the weird and new situation of not having to add up your shopping as you go in the supermarket.

People I knew ‘in real life’ would never have understood.

Back then, lots of bloggers were sharing income reports each month.

If I hadn’t have seen those on YouTube or read them in newsletters, I would have had no idea that making a good income from blogging was possible.

I wanted to pay that back and not only show others that it was possible, but to help them to succeed if I could.

What changed

It’s been 18 months ago since things started to go downhill for bloggers.

I honestly don’t know of anyone who hasn’t been negatively effected by Google’s updates.

With SEO no longer an option for many, the community scattered.

Some bloggers pivoted to other channels like Facebook, Pinterest or YouTube.

Some started new projects with SAAS or AI tools.

Some went back to employment.

The Twitter community isn’t the same.

I do miss that a lot.

March Income Report

Last month, my sites made $56,064.

  • 38% from organic search
  • 34% from organic social
  • 28% from other sources

My March expenses were $16,997, leaving a profit of $39,067.

Why I’m no longer doing monthly income reports

I feel that my goal to show what’s possible has been completed.

You know already – I don’t need to tell you every month.

And hopefully, I’ve also shown you that it’s possible to have success as a publisher in a post-HCU world.

I used to do more exciting things…

I left Raptive and joined Ezoic for two months as en experiment (don’t ever do that).

I sold a website for $180,000.

I launched a ‘race to $100k’, encouraging hundreds of niche site owners to share their stats.

Now? I don’t have such grand plans.

What I’m doing instead

My focus right now is on my travel blog and making it as good as it can be across every online channel.

I’m putting more effort into promoting myself as a travel expert – speaking at events, appearing on podcasts, writing for magazines etc.

With so much to do (that I can’t outsource), it leaves little time for much else.

I’m away almost as much as I’m at home and that comes with its challenges.

When I am at home, I want to spend time with my kids, not be chasing my tail with work.

The end

I may be the last blogger to stop doing monthly income reports.

And I’m proud that I stuck it out for so long.

And for this email newsletter?

I’m no longer tying myself to a schedule of sending every Tuesday at 3pm.

Instead, I’ll be emailing you only when I have something worth saying.

I think that will be best for all of us.

See you soon.
