#6 | I’ve been lying…

Hey

Do you ever feel completely overwhelmed by your life?

I know I do.

I think, well actually I know,

That with me,

The issue comes from all of the JUGGLING.

From trying to be 13 different things at the same time.

I’m trying to be:

  • A business owner
  • A writer
  • An analyst
  • A strategist
  • An employer
  • A photographer
  • An influencer
  • A mum
  • A wife
  • A friend
  • A daughter
  • A dog owner
  • A homeowner

And then people ask me why I’m not on YouTube.

(Haha)

They ask me why I don’t do coaching.

(I wouldn’t enjoy it)

They ask me why I didn’t reply to their email.

(Because I get hundreds per day)

The juggling is compounded by the fact that I’m naturally a very disorganised person.

I’m an “open the cupboard, throw it in and slam the door quick before everything falls out” kinda girl.

So, why am I telling you all of this?

It isn’t a pity party.

I’m happier than I’ve ever been!

But I’m still only a small way down the path

To where I want to be.

I just want you to know that,

When you feel like you can’t do it,

When you feel overwhelmed,

You’re not alone!

I would think everyone has something that’s blocking them

From working to their full potential,

Right?

So… What should we do?

I’m finding that the key to dealing with my overwhelm

Is making LISTS.

I used to say ‘but I don’t have time to make the list’.

I was lying to myself.

I do.

If I ever feel like I’m getting overwhelmed,

I look at my lists.

And I’ll find that I haven’t been using them properly.

Completed tasks haven’t been ticked off.

New tasks are being stored in my brain, not on the list.

(Urgh – the mental load of that!)

I’m preparing to attend a press trip in the Bahamas for my travel blog at the moment.

I was feeling stressed about it.

(#FirstWorldProblems, I know!)

So, I made a list of every Instagram Reel I need to create –

  • What music to include in each one
  • Which hashtags to use
  • Which shots to film

Overkill? Maybe

Stress-busting? Definitely!

If you’re already a List King or Queen, I salute you.

But if your list could do with work,

Take this as your cue to go and get organised.

Your brain will thank you for it!

Until next time!

P.S. I like to use Trello for lists as it’s free and easy, but use whatever works for you.

The most important thing is that you use something, even if it’s a pen and paper.
